Quiet Sunday morning....

Some clips of our 'native' parts of the city taken this morning. Sundays are always quiet here, not much traffic, few people out. It's the best day of the week.

This is the area to the north of us. We were considering moving to this area, but it's very quiet and a bit desolate, even for a city centre. There are lots of 50s and 60s Khruschevki 5-storey buildings here. The staple of Soviet housing. I like them more than 9-storey buildings (we used to live in a 9-storey house and now in a 5-storey). They have a great deal more character to them, although they suffer from being old and largely run-down inside, plus paper thin walls meaning that the weekend DIY from next door can always be heard. Yesterday, our neighbours from below knocked on our door asking us to stop the DIY, only to find out that it wasn't us and was coming from the neighbouring flat to us (upwards and diagonal to them).

This is the film studio area. I like it here. There is a lovely school (Lycee No. 110), some more interesting old 5 storey 'constructivist' housing (the white ones on the right), the Khruschev-type buildings (next to the school) and then a wapping great big new build (which I secretly like and wouldn't mind living in - although M. hmmms and ahhs as if it's an eyesore).
